CYCLADIC ISLANDS

Other Cykladic islands and how they look like
Mykonos
Today, Mykonos is one of the worlds most cosmopolitan islands, having become increasingly popular with tourists. It is widely known for its extremely diverse and often intense nightlife featured by a vast number of bars and nightclubs. Mykonos is also distinctive for its sandy beaches. Many Greek and international celebrities have summer residences in Mykonos and can often be seen walking the white-washed roads or having dinner at a small street-side table of an expensive restaurant or a taverna. The nightlife of Mykonos is marketed as among the best in Europe. Mykonos also attracts world-famous DJs to its clubs and beach bars, the most well-known of which are Paradise, Super Paradise and Paranga. In addition, Mykonos is a gay-friendly resort area during the summer, featuring several gay clubs. Mykonos nightlife focuses mainly on bars rather than clubs, yet a number of notable clubs can be found throughout the island.

Naxos
Naxos (in Greek, Νάξος) is a Greek island, the largest island (429 km² (166 sq mi)) in the Cyclades island group in the Aegean. It was the centre of archaic Cycladic culture. The island comprises the two municipalities of Naxos and Drymalia. The largest town and capital of the island is Hora, sometimes called Naxos City, with 6,533 inhabitants (2001 census). The main villages are Filoti, Apiranthos, Vivlos, Agios Arsenios, Koronos and Glinado. Naxos is a popular tourist destination, with several easily accessible ruins. It has a number of beautiful beaches, such as those at Agia Anna, Agios Prokopios, Alikos, Kastraki, Mikri Vigla, Plaka, and Agios Georgios, most of them near Hora. Naxos is the most fertile island of the Cyclades. It has a good supply of water in a region where water is usually inadequate. Mount Zas (999 metres) is the highest peak in the Cyclades, and tends to trap the clouds, permitting greater rainfall. This has made agriculture an important economic sector with various vegetable and fruit crops as well as cattle breeding, making Naxos one of the most self sufficient islands in the Cyclades. Naxos is also known within Greece for its potatoes.

Santorini
An island of awesome beauty, Santorini or Thera, along with its nearby islets, are the fragments of a volcano that massively erupted about 1625 BC. They are cyclically formed around the crater, which is today submerged deep into the sea. Santorini is the biggest of the group. Next in size is Thirassia, which was a part of Santorini until it was separated from it by a later earthquake in 236 BC, and then, in the center of the bay are the dark and smoldering "Burnt Isles" of Palea Kameni and Nea Kameni, which emerged from the water between 1573 and 1720. Due to that explosion of biblical proportions there have been numerous theories associating this place with the mythical Atlantis, mentioned by Greek philosopher Plato.. The historical fact is that the enormous tidal waves from the explosion swept the northern coasts of Crete where the Minoan civilization was flourishing, yet, despite previous theories, they failed to destroy it, as, according to recent evidence, it survived the eruption and managed to go on for a couple of hundred years.

Ios
Ios is an island in the Cyclades group in the Aegean Sea. It is a part of Greece. Ios is a hilly island with cliffs down to the sea on most sides, situated halfway between Naxos and Santorini. Ios attracts very large numbers of young tourists, many of whom used to sleep on their sleeping bags during the 1970s on the popular beach of Mylopotas after partying through the night. Today Mylopotas beach has been developed to an equivalent mass package tourism resort like Platys Gialos and Paradise Beach of Mykonost it is called party island Beautiful small island that for some reason has nightlife with a reputation! If you want to avoid the partys go to Ios in the low season, when youngsters are still at their studies and enjoy this very pretty traditional island.
